Harley® Owners Group

The History: Tumbleweeds to South Shore Harley® Owner's Group

The Beginning - 1946: In the fall of 1946, when Monty and I were finishing construction on our new Harley-Davidson® Motorcycle Shop, it would be hard to believe it could ever grow into what it is today.

Mount up - 1947: We opened in 1947 to deal with "Flat Heads" and "Knuckle Heads". Today we have "FAT BOYS" and "ULTRAS". Newer models, but still Harley-Davidson® s!

Change: After Monty passed away in 1959, I continued to run our shop as he had planned, expanding as the times required. With a new showroom in 1957, a new store front in 1964, and a new warehouse in 1977, we felt it was the best we could get. Little did we know what the 1990's would bring...

Renovation - 1989: With a total renovation in the fall of 1989 we were now ready for the 1990's. Our new accessory department and clothing boutique are the best in the business. Service to our customer is always a main concern, facilitated by our Service Department, and with the courtesy of my fine family, all your needs can be taken care of.

The First Club: In the early days, we had a club called the "Tumbleweeds", started in 1939 while Monty was still in a backyard shop in Whitman, MA. It took lots of time and was very successful, even running dirt track racing.

H.O.G.® Arrives: As time went by and motorcycling grew, Harley-Davidson® realized it could sponsor, with the dealers' assistance, one large organization called Harley® Owners Group. Now in its 22nd year and a great success, we are happy to sponsor our own group, the South Shore HOG® Chapter. With all their great activities, it sure adds to the pleasures of owning a Harley®. We would like to welcome you to the South Shore H.O.G.® Chapter and hope you will stop into Monty's for any of your motorcycle needs.
